I jumped on the scale this morning and was kinda bummed. Thought for sure I would see a big loss this week. My official 6 week weigh in was 144.7. It is still a loss of .4 lbs. I am trying to be OK with that number. I guess what is bugging me is that I weighed on Sat and was down to 144.1 which was a 1lb loss. I have been really good about what I ate. I even skipped a snack last night knowing my weigh in date was today. In the greater scheme of things i am doing great. It was still a loss and not a gain. As of today I have lost a total of 7lbs. I am very proud of that and the fact that no matter what speed bumps come my way I conquer them all. It may be a slow go but it is definitely going.
I have gotten the hang of the point system and actually enjoy the food I am eating. I like finding foods that have a low point value and actually finding myself full after eating them. It has become my challenge to find foods similar to my favorites that fit into my plan and i actually enjoy eating the new choice. When I have done any other diet I have never stuck with it this long. Most of the time the food is crappy and I feel like I am being deprived. I like that if I want some chocolate, pumpkin pie, Ice cream, I can eat it. No one tells me no and they actually encourage you to eat your favorites.
If anyone is looking to loose weight I would definitely recommend Weight Watchers. I see this as a new life style not just a diet i "have" to do. I can't wait for Christmas time and to reveal that I have lost all the weight I was looking to get rid of. I am a lot happier when I step on the scale now. I don't hate shopping for clothes anymore. I love putting on things I haven't worn in a while and realizing how much better I look in it now. I have a way to go but I sure am on the right road now.
As a follow up to the hiccup of last week..... Still haven't seen Aunt Flow yet. It has been 17 days since she was supposed to show up. I haven't taken any more tests. I really dont see the point. After 4 negative tests and a negative blood test I figure what will be will be. If I am indeed pregnant I will figure it out soon enough. If not I should just be happy with not having that unwanted monthly guest. I do have a Dr apt with my OBGYN on the 4th. If I still havent started by then I will go and see what he has to say. He can at least do an ultrasound in the office and that will confirm one way or another if there is a bun in the oven. I secretly am keeping my fingers crossed that there is something growing in there. If not well there's always next month.......
See you next week a little bit lighter....

5 weeks and a Hiccup.
Yesterday was 5 weeks on Weight Watchers. After not loosing any weight last week I decided i wasn't going to give in and keep on keeping on. So I left last week in the past and kept my head pointed to the future. It was a pretty good week. My sister Amy and her family came into town for the Pumpkinman Triathlon. Her husband Stacey and Curtis were going to be competing in he race. I got to spend a lot of great time with my family which always keeps me happy. But with family time comes yummy food..... I tried to be as good as I could but didn't say no to everything. I am a lucky girl to have such an amazing family. We spent most of Saturday out watching Stacey and Curtis swim, ride, and run. It was a beautiful morning and I had pretty great company this time around. While watching all these amazing people, young, old, all body types, pushing themselves I was thinking that maybe I should do this too..... Then I saw my husband walk across the finish line and remembered it isn't as easy as it looked. I will stick to soccer!
So weigh in day came and I was eager to jump on the scale to see if it had moved this week. To my surprise it had. My official weight for the week is 145.1. I lost another 1.5 lbs this week. It was reassuring to see that the scale was reflecting the work I was putting in. I am shooting for 2lbs next week but as always I will take whatever loss I get.
The hiccup I mentioned is that I thought there may be a small chance I was knocked up. I am officially 11 days over due for "that time". Most women wouldn't complain that they missed their period but since I went off my birth control in August and we weren't planning another baby right now we were a bit nervous. I have taken 4 home pregnancy tests and all were negative but still no Aunt Flow. I finally called my Doula Naomi and she offered to get me a blood test to get a definite answer. I went yesterday and may I just add that the wait for the results was horrible!!! With playing soccer and drinking this past weekend I just needed to know as soon as possible. I got the call this morning that the test was negative. I think Curtis was a bit more relieved than I was to get that news. Even though I know right now isn't the ideal time for a baby I was hoping that maybe this was God's way of saying it was. So now the question is: do I sit and wait for my body to get it's crap together and start when it's ready or do I go the herbal route and get it started myself.
I have done some research and asked questions regarding this topic.I have had a lot of people help with what herbs are the best to regulate irregular periods. I have also come across people who warn me that it is possible to get a negative result on the blood test and still actually be pregnant. If I did take these herbs I would then most likely loose the baby. HMMMMMMMMM...... What to do what to do?????? One lady said her friend got negative results till her 11th week. Her Dr was trying to get her to take meds to start her period too. If she had she would have lost her twins. I do have a Dr apt on November 4th with my OBGYN. I was going to cancel this but now I might just keep it in case I don't start by then. Maybe he will do an ultrasound and another blood test. I'm sooooooo confused!!!!
Oh well Next week will be here soon enough so I will keep my eye on the prize and hopefully will be 2 lbs lighter this time next week.
See you on the skinnier side!

One Month In.
Today is weigh in day. This morning before eating or getting my coffee I got up and got on the scale. I got on in hopes of seeing another 2 pounds gone. So what did the scale say you might ask..... The same as last week. 146.6lbs. I will admit I was a bit disappointed when I saw the number but have to keep reminding myself that it isn't always going to be easy to get this weight off. All day long I have replayed the past week to figure out where I went wrong. There were 2 meals that weren't the best but they weren't that bad. Or so I thought.... I also think I need to be a bit more diligent about the portion sizes I eat. Maybe that is where i am going wrong. Maybe it's time to stop my morning coffee and choose a better breakfast. As I was beating myself up about this I had to try and look on the bright side. At least the scale didn't go up. It's easier to keep losing what you already have than to lose weight you put back on.
I took my measurements when I started weight watchers so i can have an idea how much my body has changed when I reach my goal. I decided to check them today to see if there has been any change in my body other than what the scale says. To my surprise I have lost in every category. I have lost a total of 6.8inches. The most was off my waist and hips at 2in each. That is very exciting news to me since I really don't see the difference myself. It does however explain why my jeans are fitting a little better these days. So I have taken away a piece of contentment to know that even though the scale didn't read a lower number I actually am changing my body.
In the past when I hit a plateau or gained a little back I would always quit. I figured why am I doing all this work if nothing is going to come of it. Today I have the mind set that as long as I put in the work and stay honest with myself I can conquer this hurdle in my life. Another great thing that has come of this life change is that I am cooking a lot more healthy dinners for the family. I actually enjoy getting in the kitchen and putting dinner together. Anyone who knows me knows this is the BIGGEST milestone so far.
Next week is a new week with a clean slate. I am hoping to show a loss on the scale. I will not give up just because of this wee little bump in the road. I will continue to work hard and get to where i want to be. Now that the weather is getting to be a little less like living in hell I think I will start getting back on my road bike and enjoy the time away from the kids and having my mind cleared for about an hour. See you back here in a week with a little less of me to share ; )

Lookin good at week 3.....
Today started out not so great. I had a dentist apt at 7am to get 2 fillings drilled out and replaced and a crown started. I swear I got beat up worse from the Dentist than I ever have during my soccer games. After that I was not looking forward to stepping on the scale this morning. I didn't feel like i had lost anything this week. This weekend I got spoiled from my Hubby. We didn't have the kids so we ate like kings. I will say I noticed that I got full faster or at least I noticed I was full faster and I didn't clean my plate every time. I guess this plan really is working for me. I can say that I have been very diligent on checking points for food and if I am planning on going out to eat I check on line for the nutrition info to see what is the best choice. I even find myself checking the points on Curtis' food even though he isn't doing weight watchers with me. He has even changed a couple eating habits.
OK so the official weight for today is............146.6
That is a loss of 1.8lbs. I was shooting for 2lbs but i will take my 1.8lbs thank you very much!! I am so glad that the scale keeps heading in the right direction. I feel like this is to easy so the weight shouldn't be coming off so quickly. My oldest sister Amy did weight watchers after having her daughter Emily and had great results and she turned me on to it a couple years ago. I will have to send her a thank you card for planting the seed and allowing it to grow at it's own pace. It may have taken me a couple failed attempts to get this right but better late than never. At this rate I will be where I want to be by Christmas . I think this is going to be the best Christmas ever!! Who could ask for a better Christmas present? I will take a rockin body and a healthy life style any day over a shirt or pair of shoes. Now if I can only figure how to put a bow on this.........
My goal again for next week is a 2 lb loss again. I will keep doing what i'm doing and try to add a little more exercise into the mix too.
See you on the hot and skinny side!!!
